There is more to design than picking beautiful things. Creating a functional layout is a designer’s responsibility. Good design is very intentional.
The most successful projects start with a robust planning process whether in-person or virtual. Our front-ended approach to design ensures the small details have are discussed ahead of time before they become headaches.
We’re here to demystify the design process and make it an enjoyable journey. Updating a home can feel like a million decisions coming at you all at once, and that's exactly why we're here. Ensuring a smooth and engaging experience throughout, we guide our clients through decisions both large and small. As a team, we will explore creative possibilities while never losing sight of the important details that make your house, your home. This way you get to enjoy watching your home transform instead of losing sleep over it. That's why our process begins here with a comprehensive look at our process.
Our team of designers have the skill and experience to manage every aspect of your home project, making the process both efficient and enjoyable. Most importantly, we are adept at collaborating closely with clients, architects, and contractors resulting in a home that is tailor-made for you.
Whether you’re looking for help planning a remodel, furniture design, or sometime in between, our process below remains (relatively) unchanged.
Step #1
Initial Consultation + Exploratory Phase
Feel free to fill out my New Client Survey before or after our initial correspondence. Completing this form before our first phone call will better direct the questions
During our first call, I spend most of my time listening as you share your vision and lifestyle needs. This is where we discuss and put together a budget for your project. We’ll also discuss how I work, my fees. There will be a separate list for furnishings, and items related to construction.
The furnishings budget includes items like soft goods, decorative lighting, wallpaper, accessories, and art (is so chosen).
Our construction budget will include allowances for items we’ll select during your project. This will include but is not limited to tile, plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, lighting. Allowances for appliances are not usually included in this budget but I usually visit appliance showrooms with clients to educate them on the options out there, and help them finalize these selections.
Exploratory Phase
After the initial call, we scheduled a 1 hour follow-up meeting to review the project at hand, discuss your preferences, scope, and budget. This meeting can be on site if you are located within 20 miles of Boston. All other locations will have a virtual follow up.
Paperwork may not sound like the most exciting step in our process — but it's how we formalize our partnership and commitment to you!
Step #2
Concept Design + Inspiration Boards
With an approved contract and budget in place, the fun can begin.
We use inspiration images to help us communicate design details to our clients by visually showcasing the style, mood, and functionality of a space. They align our vision with our client's preferences, spark creative ideas, and provide a clear reference for materials, layouts, and finishes.
in this phase you can expect to see things like furniture layout plans and mood boards to come into play.
As I plan the space and create furniture layouts, I select the furnishings that correspond to each item.
Here, we'll refine ideas based on the insight and context you've provided so we can hone in on the right aesthetic for your space.
It's all coming together! Next up? We'll source specific items based on your budget, assemble a cohesive layout, and connect with contractors based on project scope.

Step #3
Design Development
We use furniture layouts to communicate design details to our clients by illustrating the arrangement of pieces within a space to maximize functionality and flow. They help clients visualize how the design works in real life, ensuring comfort, balance, and alignment with their lifestyle needs.
We use product images to help us communicate design details by showcasing the specific materials, furniture, and décor that will bring the vision to life. They help our clients visualize how individual pieces fit into the overall design, ensure cohesion, and make it easier to align expectations with final selections.
The core of our renovation projects is Home Designer Pro. This lets us create all technical floor plans, elevations, and finite details we need BEFORE renovating. There's no swinging a hammer without a plan... and this is how we do it.

Step #4
Procurement + Project Management
With an approved contract and budget in place, the fun can begin.
We handle sourcing, vendors, logistics and contractor collaboration.
onsite walk through with the bulder/k/tchen fitter so we can ensure design intent is communicated precisely. We review production drawings prior to client sign-off and onsite again to answer any questions that may arise during mid-construction.
we'll provide you with a proposal that breaks down all the costs associated with project execution. And rest assured: We won't order anything until you've officially signed
Step #5
Construction Punchlist + Interiors Styling
Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.

When in comes to furnishings, lead time are known to be all over the place. An in stock item can take one week to be delivered in stored close to your home, or 4-6 weeks if shipping internationally or from the opposite coast. This is especially true for items that will be white glove delivered because the delivery date will be chosen by you once the item reaches your local warehouse.
For construction projects, I consider.a good rule of thumb is to expect two days added to a deadline for every 1 day of delay. As you can imagine, this adds up very quickly.

IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW SEASONED YOUR ARCHITECT AND CONTRACTOR ARE..
THEY ARE ONLY GOING TO PROVIDE SERVICES THAT ARE WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THEIR WORK, WHICH DOESN'T INCLUDE ENSURING THE FUNCTIONALITY OF YOUR SPACE.
WHILE EACH PERSON PLAYS A DIFFERENT ROLE IN YOUR RENOVATION PROJECT, EACH ROLE IS ESSENTIAL. WE ALL WORK COHESIVELY TO ENSURE THAT YOUR SPACE IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL .. AND FULFILLS YOUR WISHES.

My number one tip if you’re currently looking for a design is this: Hire a designer you actually like. Yes you will need to like their style but make sure you like they work and that their personality meshes well with yours. The design process is very involved and you will be spending a lot of time around and communicating with your designer.

Once your materials have been ordered, our work is far from done. From coordinating delivery ETAs to final installation, we'll be there every step of the way.
When possible, Nubuor Designs prefers to ship all orders to our preferred receiving warehouse. There, all deliveries will be inspected, assembled, and delivered on install. This keeps the process efficient and ensures that your furnishings are exactly what we envisioned, and any order discrepancies are caught at the point of delivery and not weeks or months later.

For installation, we charge a per day fee. We bring all hands on deck team to deliver, assemble, place, style, and perfect every single detail to give you a turn-key experience. This service is invaluable on move in day where movers will need direction on order of operations, and where products should be placed.
Once we're finished, we welcome you home to an inviting space that is ready for living. We will tout your home together, creating a punch list of any remaining work to be completed.
