The Studio
Nubuor Designs is a full-service interior design studio based in Beacon Hill, Boston, specializing in comprehensive renovations and thoughtfully curated interiors for discerning homeowners throughout New England and beyond. The studio was founded on a simple belief: that a beautifully designed home should be as livable as it is elevated, and that the process of getting there should feel as considered as the result.
Every project is approached as a true partnership. The work is collaborative by nature and decisive in direction, guided by close listening, careful planning, and a commitment to bringing clarity to every stage of the design process. From initial concept through final installation, nothing is too small to deserve attention. It is an approach built over a decade of transforming homes across New England, New York, and beyond.
Whether the scope is a full multi-room renovation or a thoughtfully curated furniture selection, every project receives the same level of care. The goal is always a home that feels deeply personal, impeccably crafted, and entirely yours.
The Aesthetic
Every home has its own story to tell. Rather than imposing a signature style, we draw inspiration from your property's architecture, landscape, and history to create spaces that feel intentional. Each project is a layered experience shaped around your individuality and the way you actually live.
Our aesthetic leans modern, and we love exploring how that sensibility translates across different eras and architectural styles. A Beacon Hill brownstone, Brookline colonial, and downtown penthouse will each call for very different expressions. Finding that interpretation with you in mind is one of our favorite parts of the design process.
Personality is a crucial part of our design equation and no two projects ever look the same, even when the homes do, because a home should always be a reflection of the person living there.
That shows up in every detail, from color choices to where we source. We work with artisans, specialty vendors, and makers near and far, mixing custom pieces with carefully chosen vintage finds. Those elements give a home a depth and soul that off the shelf purchases simply cannot replicate. That is the difference between a home that looks beautiful and one that actually feels like you.
Margaret Nubuor
I grew up in Ghana before moving to the US, and that journey shapes everything about how I approach design. Being surrounded by different materials, landscapes, and ways of living gave me an early appreciation for how deeply a home reflects the people inside it even in the context of their surroundings. Years of travel have only deepened that. I bring that perspective to every project, along with a love of color, rich textiles, and quality handmade craft that catalog furniture simply can’t replicate.
With a decade of high-end residential design experience, I have led the transformation of over 30 properties across Boston, Cape Cod, New York, and coastal Maine. Before establishing Nubuor Designs, I worked at various Boston design firms on luxury residential projects. My approach balances technical precision with a deep understanding of how a beautiful home should actually function.
I invest time getting to know how my clients live, what they love, and what they need from their home. Clear communication, meticulous planning, and a collaboration built on trust are at the core of how I work. Many of my clients return for second homes, refer family members, or simply staying in touch long after a project is complete. That, to me, is the truest measure of success in design.
When I am not designing, you will find me walking my black lab Jasper through Beacon Hill, hunting for treasures at antique markets, painting watercolors, or traveling for design inspiration. I am a devoted candle connoisseur and maintain an ever-growing collection of sewing projects I fully intend to finish… someday.
