Interior Architecture and Design: Nubuor Designs

Project Location : Beacon Hill, Boston, MA

A design concept for Boston's historic Beacon Hill neighborhood, Deco Garden transforms a single-family brownstone through a full gut renovation and furniture design. The brief has a clear vision: preserve the architectural heritage while creating spaces that feel fresh, vibrant, and lusciously livable.

We will be pairing the brownstone's historic architectural details with modern furnishings and statement lights that bring unexpected energy to each room. Approaching the color palette with the same tension in mind, crisp white walls will be complemented with soft gray cabinetry to create a gallery-like backdrop for carefully chosen gem tones that add depth and personality. White oak flooring and custom millwork introduce organic warmth that ground the contemporary additions.

Our material selections were deliberately chosen by mixing polished nickel and brass finishes, allowing the cool and warm metals to create subtle visual interest. As a perfect metaphor, we’ve selected modern foliage wallpapers as nod to traditional botanical prints that feel distinctly current.

For the parlor level, we reimagined the traditional compartmentalized layout by opening the living room, kitchen, and dining spaces into one cohesive, flowing environment. And to shake things up, we placed the kitchen in the heart of it all rather than at one end of the space. This central positioning transforms meal preparation from an isolated task into a social experience involving the whole family while keeping the cook connected to the rest of the home.
